The cake bases are made from the highest quality ingredients to ensure you get the best cake for your money. Wedding cake tiers can either be all one type of cake or a mixture of either fruit cake, sponge cake (chocolate or vanilla) or carrot cake.

Fruit Cake
This is a moist eating cake. The fruit is steeped in sherry before mixing and baked and then matured for several weeks. The cake will be delicious and good to eat for a very long time, but we recommend that it is best used within eighteen months.

Sponge Cake
The Madeira like sponge is available in vanilla or chocolate flavours and is filled with jam and buttercream in the vanilla sponge and chocolate icing in the chocolate sponge. The relatively rich recipe gives a soft, moist eating cake, which will keep well for approximately five weeks.

Carrot Cake
The carrot cake bases provide and extra choice for those looking for a variety of different flavoured tiers in their cake. This cake has a shelf life of approximately two weeks.

Eggless Sponge Cake
The eggless sponge is similar in taste and texture to the vanilla sponge cake. Suitable for the growing number of customers with egg allergies or religious dietary requirements. The eggless sponge contains milk so is not suitable for vegans.


The tables below give you a rough idea of the number of portions you will get from a standard cake. Fruit cake is not served in the same sizes as sponge cake because it's much richer.
